こちらをお求めいただきました、ショウ様です。新宿店にご来店くださり、調光レンズをご希望とのことでした。お顔が小さめでいらっしゃるとのことで、小さいフレームをお探しでした。

ショウ様がお選びくださったのは、福井県鯖江の金子眼鏡によるKA-64。金子眼鏡は、日本の精巧なものづくりの技術と職人の「技」を守りたいという真摯な想いから生まれたブランドです。セルロイド職人の長老・小竹長兵衛氏や、研磨技術において福井で右に出る者はいないと言われる佐々木与一氏といった匠たちが生み出すフレームは、優美で繊細、そして機能性も抜群。その評価は海外にも広がり、ニューヨークにも店舗を展開するほどの注目を集めています。

このKA-64は、クラシカルでオーセンティックなクラウンパント型のセルフレーム。多角形のフレームシルエットが独特な雰囲気を醸し出し、個性的でありながらも品のある佇まいを演出します。鼻当てはクリングス仕様の可動式になっており、調整幅があるため快適な掛け心地を実現。お顔の小さなショウ様にもしっかりとフィットし、繊細なフレームラインがショウ様の雰囲気を一層引き立てていました。ブラックのカラーリングは、シンプルでありながら凛とした強さを感じさせ、大変お似合いでした。

レンズは、HOYA 1.67調光レンズ センシティ2 ブラウンでお作りさせていただきました。屈折率1.67は超薄型レンズに分類され、中度から強度の度数の方に適したレンズの厚みを実現します。紫外線に反応してブラウンに発色する調光レンズで、室内ではほぼ無色、屋外ではサングラスとして機能し、発色の程度にかかわらず紫外線をほぼ100%カット。反射防止マルチコートや撥水コートも施されており、1本のメガネで普段使いとサングラスの両方の役割を果たせる、大変便利なレンズです。

Mr. Sho visited our Shinjuku store and chose these frames. He came to us with a request for photochromic lenses and was looking for small frames, as he has a smaller face.

The frames Mr. Sho selected were the KA-64 by Kaneko Optical from Sabae, Fukui Prefecture. Kaneko Optical was born from a sincere desire to preserve the exquisite craftsmanship and techniques of Japanese manufacturing. The frames created by master craftsmen such as Chobei Kotake, a veteran celluloid artisan, and Yoichi Sasaki, whose polishing techniques are said to be unmatched in Fukui, are elegant, delicate, and exceptionally functional. Their acclaim has spread overseas, with the brand even expanding to New York, garnering international attention.

The KA-64 is a classical and authentic crown panto-shaped celluloid frame. The polygonal frame silhouette creates a distinctive atmosphere that is both unique and refined. The nose pads are adjustable clingarms, offering flexibility for a comfortable fit. They fit Mr. Sho's smaller face perfectly, and the delicate frame lines beautifully enhanced his presence. The black color, simple yet possessing a quiet strength, suited him wonderfully.

For the lenses, we crafted them with HOYA 1.67 photochromic Sensity 2 in brown. With a refractive index of 1.67, these are classified as ultra-thin lenses, achieving the appropriate thickness for moderate to high prescriptions. These photochromic lenses react to ultraviolet light and develop a brown tint—nearly colorless indoors and functioning as sunglasses outdoors, blocking nearly 100% of UV rays regardless of the degree of tinting. With anti-reflective multi-coating and water-repellent coating, this convenient lens serves both as everyday eyewear and sunglasses in a single pair.
